About Me and My Art

Art and truth have always danced together. Pablo Picasso famously said.: “Art is the lie that enables us to realize the truth.” I find this to be correct. I can paint a chair, but you won’t be able to sit on it. It’s a lie put to canvas. However, the way that I paint the chair might make you look at chairs differently and, as a result, communicate a profound truth. The image on the canvas changes your understanding of chairs. Perhaps you have missed some small detail, some basic truth, that is essential in chair design. And now, because of a piece of art, you have a renewed appreciation for chairs. Your chair-sitting experience will never be the same. This is the power of art.

Art is a miracle worker. It has a way of curing blindness in those who do not know that they are blind. For nearly two thousand years, Christians have appreciated the arts for this reason.

My art springs from my intimate time with the Lord and His Word. I am a worshipper first and then after many other things, I am an artist. I create art live as an act of worship, alongside and in front of a gathered group of fellow Christ-followers. I also worship alone making beautiful things with Jesus in private contemplation. I am a complex mixture of creative and intellectual. I have over twenty years of ministry experience, a B.A. in Religion from Greensboro College, an M.Div. from Asbury Theological Seminary, and a D.Min. in Spiritual Formation from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. I have also been actively creating art as worship since 2007. I teach and worship every week.

The prints available for purchase on this site are here because they mean something. The art selected is offered to you as reminders of who God is, who you are, and what it means to follow Jesus Christ. My prayer is that the fruit of my relationship with Jesus will inspire you to love Him even more and say, “Yes!” to Him daily.
